Pillow Fight For Compass Living
When was the last time you had a pillow fight? Did you even know there was an International Pillow Fight Day? We didn't either and we were invited to attend the event here in Saigon, Vietnam at the City Park.
All of us who were attending piled into the van, courtesy of Compass Living and we were driven to the park.
The event had a civilized beginning. People here are standing in line to purchase a pillow if they didn't already have one. Price: 60,000 dong or about $3USD.
There were hard and fast rules to this game:
NO violence, and only soft pillows were allowed. There were even "Zipper Police" to check out your pillow for zippers or other hard object to be sure no one would be hurt with the swinging.
We weren't allowed to pop someone who didn't have a pillow, and if you had a camera, you were safe from receiving a wallop too.
Everyone was told to take off their glasses because an unexpected bopping could find your lenses broken on the ground. This could ruin your day, but as with any crowd, not everyone follows the rules!
Energy built up and people were antsy to get started. Cold, free bottled water was handed out to combat the heat.
At the signal, everyone began popping others with their pillows. Some got into banshee screaming and running as a group to do mass pillow walloping and that had to be some of the most exciting moments. Surprisingly, it took more energy to whop a pillow than one would expect. After about an hour and a half of bopping, bashing and bonking, everyone was beat.
There we are in the center
After more than an hour of bipping and bopping and a few waloozas the crowd gathered for a group photo. What great innocent fun! The people who attended were of every age group and very social and friendly. No one worried about "being cool" or presenting an image. Just being there was proof enough that you knew how to have a good time.
By this time we all had plenty of endorphins and continued to be silly. No one really wanted to stop! If you ever have the occasion to attend an International Pillow Fight Day event, we highly recommend it!
